Barbara Desmarais has extensive experience in childhood education, receiving her diploma in Early Childhood Education in 1973 and working in daycare centers and preschools. For more than 20 years, she has presented parenting workshops in the Vancouver, British Columbia area.

In 2002, she began training as a life coach, eventually launching The Parenting Coach.com. Her coaching sessions with parents are one-on-one, examining areas of a parent's life that may be affecting their children and their parenting. She's frequently quoted in "Today’s Parent" which is Canada's leading parenting magazine and is a regular speaker on AM radio and Internet talk shows involving parenting topics.
