Solution Lady: Analyzing the Break Up

Solution Lady: Analyzing the Break Up

Mental Health: Try to Look at Divorce as Just a Simple, Legal Action

By LINDA ROBERT

You’ve heard the old saying Use the KISS principle, Keep It Simple Silly.

Years after I heard KISS and a couple of divorces later, I heard a different twist on that. A male friend of mine asked me to go to a dance. I thought about it for a minute and didn’t give him an answer right away. He then said to me “A dance is just a dance, Linda!” I repeated that to myself a few times to figure out what he was saying. I finally fully understood what he meant after we went dancing that night. A dance was simply that, just a dance.

It was simple for him to say it, but not so simple for me to understand it. I think it’s a guy thing. For some strange reason, maybe because they are from Mars, men simply state the facts; it was simply a dance. They, unlike women, do not get into over analyzing the words, nor get emotionally involved in the decision making process. So when writing this article, I thought that I could use the same reasoning.

Think about it! If a divorce were simply a divorce.

You probably would not have...
    1.  Wasted your time and energy arguing about it, getting angry, depressed or getting even
    2.  Thought you were a loser, a ‘DIVORCEE’
    3.  Gotten so emotional about it
    4.  Been afraid of the outcome

You probably would have...
     1.  Signed the divorce documents quicker
     2.  Picked up, completed and signed a Do-it-Yourself Kit
     3.  Gotten over it that much faster
     4.  Gotten it that much faster

or you could have...
     1. Remained separated and saved time, money and headaches

So, there you have it, a divorce is simply that; a legal action between married people to terminate their marriage. Nothing more, nothing less. Anything more is related to our beliefs, our thoughts and our emotions in relations to marriage or the dissolution of it. Now, back to reality! If it were only that simple!
