Mother's Day after Divorce
Parenting: Divorce Etiquette for Mother's Day to Help No Matter What the Situation

Mother's Day can be a tricky time of the year for those who are either going through the process of divorcing, or are already divorced and have moved on. In my opinion, common sense should be the guide here. If the relationship with the Mother-In-Law (or ex-MIL) was/is a good one that survived the turmoil of the divorce/separation, I believe the practice of honoring the day - and the MIL should continue. Why burn bridges that don't need to be burned?
If, on the other hand, your relationship ended when the marriage did, I see no reason to put any extra effort into recognizing the day - or her. It's difficult enough dealing with the ex - why stress out even more by trying to make points with a woman who has no desire to remain a fixture in your life? Anyway, that's my take on Mother's Day....such as it is.
